Keflavik city is located on the southwest Iceland. Keflavik city is a town of around 10,000 people residing in the Reykjanes region. The city was founded during the 16th century and it owes its major development to the fishing and fish procesing industry. Keflavik city has an International Airport which was built by the US in the 1940s. The Internatioanl Airport is also the base for NATO military base on the map of Keflavik.
The map of keflavik has been famous for its musicians during the 1960s and 70s. This is the reason that the keflavik city is known as “The Beatle Town” or “bítlabærinn”. The geography of the keflavik iceland sees wide fields of bastle rubble,combined with some hardy plants and mosses. Reykjavík city is around 50 km away from the keflavik city.
While on keflavik tour one can see theKeflavik Naval Air Station which played a pivotal role during the World War II and the Cold War. It was use for monitoring marine and submarine traffic from the Norwegian and Greenland sea, into the Atlantic Ocean. |
