Travel to iceland would be an experience if certain things are kept in mind while leaving for Iceland Travel Package. iceland travel has grown with time and now iceland travel is a hot destination. While touring the country some of the following list of information would be of great help.

Telephone : Full IDD service is available. Country code: 354. Outgoing international code: 00. There are no longer any area codes; all lines now have a seven-digit number. For Reykjavík, old six-digit numbers are now preceded by 5, while old five-digit numbers are preceded by 55.

Tipping : While travel to Iceland remember service charges are included in most bills and extra tips are not expected.

Language : Icelandic is the national language for the country and a very difficult language to learn. But this wont be a big problem as most people in Iceland speak excellent English.

Safety : Iceland is generally a very safe place with rarely any really serious trouble. Crime does obviously exist, but it is at a far lower level than in most other Western countries. It is of course always wise to adhere to the usual common sense precautions when out and about in a foreign country, regardless of the crime level.

Accommodation : Iceland vacation would be a delight as Iceland has tourist accommodation of a high standard, although certainly not cheap. As Iceland is becoming an extremely popular tourist location, and there is a shortage of hotel rooms so it is advised to plan your trip and book your rooms before hand.

Food and Drink : Icelandic food in general is based on fish and lamb, as well as owing much to Scandinavian and European influences. The salmon of Iceland is a great delicacy, served in many forms. Some new restaurants have come up in Reykjavík and there is now a small but attractive choice of eating places that cater for all pockets with new tourist menus.

While Iceland travel Bars have table and/or counter service, and will serve coffee as well as alcohol. Alcohol is generally expensive. In coffee shops you pay for the first cup; you help yourself to subsequent cups. There is a wide selection of European spirits and wines. Brennivin (a potent variation of aquavit made from potatoes) is a local drink.

Currency Regulations and Exchange: There is no limit on the amount of foreign currency in letters of credit, traveler’s cheques or bank notes which may be brought into Iceland. All Icelandic banks provide foreign exchange and are generally open on weekdays from 09:15 to 16:00. The Icelandic monetary unit is the "króna" which is equal to 100 "aurar.” Traveller’s cheques are widely accepted in Iceland.

Post Offices : There are post offices located in all major communities in Iceland. General hours are: Mon-Fri. 08:30-16:30. The post office in Austurstraeti (City centre) is open June-August on Saturdays 10:00-14:00.

Banking hours: Banks are open from Mon-Fri 09:15-16:00.

Shopping hours: Shopping hours are Mon-Fri 09:00-18:00, Sat from 10:00-13/14/15 or 16:00, varying from one shop to another. Some supermarkets are open to 23:00 seven days a week. Shops outside Reykjavik in service centers or filling stations are often open all day (09:00-22/23:00) every day of the week.
Electricity: The electric current in Iceland is 220 volts, 50 HZ AC. Take note that the prongs on electrical equipment you bring with you may be different from Iceland standards. It is advisable to check before using such equipment.

Required clothing: Iceland vacation would require lightweights in warmer months, with extra woolens for walking and the cooler evenings. Medium- to heavyweights are advised in winter. Waterproofing is recommended throughout the year.

Time : Iceland is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) throughout the year, and does not go on daylight saving time.
